What They Say…
“…This pub remains stoically old school. The back room is a theatre that plays host to comedy nights and the Walthamstow Folk Club, where socialist songsmiths play rabble rousers to a beered up Camra crew every Sunday…” – The Guardian
“London’s friendliest folk club” – Folk and Roots
“We love this place” – Mawkin:Causley
“A bloody fine club” – Robb Johnson
Club Night
Doors open at around 7:30. We have floorspots and the band up until our main guest who appears at around about 8:15 for the first of their two sets. We aim to finish at around 10:30. An evening at the club is a relaxed affair with plenty of time for chatting and meeting new people. We also have a raffle and a selection of CDs for sale including rare and hard to find albums.

Floorspots
In addition to the main guest you can expect to hear some contributions from our regular performers and others. If you sing or play an instrument we would love to hear you. If you would like to perform just ask the person on the door or the MC for the evening. You don’t have to stick to traditional material and you can do a song, a tune, a poem or even tell a story. It’s a great opportunity to share your music in a supportive environment where people are really paying attention.
You don’t have to book in advance, just turn up. Unless we’re super busy you can expect to get at least one tune, and you might even get more if there’s time.
Safeguarding
We want to ensure a welcoming, inclusive and safe environment at our club and we expect everyone participating or attending the club to respect staff, other audience members and performers. We will not tolerate aggressive, discriminatory, disruptive, harassing or offensive behaviour.
The club room is located on the first floor with a winding staircase to reach it so, unfortunately, disabled access is poor and the venue is not suitable for wheelchair users.
Concessions
These are for people who are unwaged and cannot afford the full ticket price. Please support the club and artists by paying for a full ticket if you can.
Bookings
If you would like to enquire about performing at the club as a main guest please email info@walthamstowfolk.co.uk, but be aware that we rarely book anybody we have not heard live.
It’s a club!
Always remember that Walthamstow Folk is not a concert promotion venture – it’s a club run by volunteers. We always welcome ideas and suggestions as to artists we can book and how to improve what we do.
We are also always happy to hear from people who might be able to spare some time to help us out whether that’s delivering leaflets, assisting with the admin side whatever else you might be able to offer to help the club.
We’d particularly welcome offers of support to help us out on club nights.
The Team
Walthamstow Folk Club is brought to you by Kevin Sheils, Sandra Murphy, Liz Philipson, Simon Armstrong, Mick Kahn, Sian Allen, Steve Foster, Ruth Allen, Carol Woodward, Rafe Culpin, John Cain, Roger Huddle, Graham Larkbey and the endlessly supportive Ye Olde Rose & Crown Theatre Pub.
